Platform cooperatives are businesses that offer goods or services primarily through a website, mobile app or protocol. They are based on democratic decision-making and shared platform ownership by workers and users. Together with Andreas Arnold and Claudia Henke, I am a co-founder and board member of our own cooperative, Platform Coop eG, which we founded in 2019 with the aim of developing organizational and technological alternatives to the monopolies of the platform economy. We accompany platform coops through the start-up process, advise companies on the transition to cooperative structures and connect stakeholders with each other.
